Week 1 Seminar

The first week of Future Representations was an introduction to the necessary preparations to a file using photoshop. This involved creating multiple layers of Archigram's 'Instant City' drawing in order to animate them in AfterEffects.

Above is a screen shot of my selected elements from the drawing for animation. In addition to layering these elements the background of the original drawing required patching up so that the animation of these elements could be achieved.

After the completion of all layers and background patch ups, I was then able to save the Photoshop file to import into AfterEffects. Following the reordering and realignment of each of the layers in AfterEffects, the introduction of a camera to allow panning of the original drawing was required.

Using a 35mm camera, I was then able to animate the elements whilst moving around the larger image.

After applying rotation, scaling, placement and colour variation effects to the elements, I was then able to export the animation as a preliminary 20 second experiment.
